The Division of Certification, Leadership, & Preparation consists of four main sections or focus areas.  These sections are: Certification & Recruitment, Preparation & Accreditation, State & Federal Programs, and Leadership.

Key initiatives of the Division of Certification, Leadership, & Preparation include implementation and maintenance of certification policy and procedures, the issuance of teacher and leader certificates, certification appeals, teacher preparation program approval and accreditation and the administration of State and Federal grants.

The Division of Certification, Leadership, Preparation also maintains and develops the Teach Louisiana website, the Department of Education's online clearinghouse for educators which provides recruitment, certification, teacher preparation and professional development resources to improve teacher quality throughout the state.
