The Preparation and Accreditation Section is dedicated to supporting school districts and institutions of higher education in the preparation of high quality teachers to enable Louisiana's students to succeed and compete on a national and international level. This Section collaborates with the Board of Regents in reviewing and recommending State college and university teacher preparation programs for approval to the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education. In addition, non-university private providers who offer practitioner teacher programs and practitioner educational leader programs are also reviewed for approval.

Our goal is to develop and strengthen partnerships with universities, program providers, school districts and other stakeholders to enhance teaching and learning.

Other responsibilities of the Preparation and Accreditation Section:
Accreditation- Louisiana/NCATE Partnership
Louisiana is in partnership with the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) to accredit teacher preparation programs in the State. All teacher preparation programs must meet both NCATE standards and State standards. Guidelines for accreditation and State approval are found in Bulletin 996, Louisiana Standards for Approval of Teacher Education Programs.
