After School/Extending Learning Opportunities in Louisiana
The Department of Education provides after school and summer extended learning opportunities for over 10,000 students a year with a combination of state and federal funds. The Legislature provides funds for community-based programs throughout the state, while federal sources are No Child Left Behind (ESEA) and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF). The Department provides technical assistance, training, and monitoring of projects located at more than 300 sites, working to integrate academics, recreation, and enrichment to students from high-poverty communities.

After School & Technology
