2008 – 2009 Math Science Partnerships

The US Department of Education provides funding for the Louisiana Department of Education to award subgrants for Math Science Partnership (MSP) projects formed by districts with Institutes of Higher Education and other districts. The goal of these professional development projects is to improve teacher content knowledge and teaching skills to support improvement in student academic achievement; 41 districts and nine universities are working together with one or more of the 2008–09 Louisiana MSP Projects.

Each project must provide 20 days of content instruction. Components of the Louisiana MSP projects include multiple week summer institutes and several days of school year follow-up training.

The following chart provides general information for each of the 2008–09 Louisiana MSP Projects.

MSP Online Data Collection

Two essential components in the evaluation of each of the Louisiana MSP Projects are the completion of participant surveys and an evaluation of student achievement. To assist the projects in securing this information, an online site has been developed.

The User Manual below provides step-by-step instructions for MSP participants as they create student databases and complete the required surveys.
