Staff Development and Assistance
Purpose:
The Staff Development and Assistance (SDA) section’s purpose is to support teachers, schools, and districts as they implement the process of high quality, ongoing, applied staff development.
SDA is responsible for several programs that assist districts in the following:
· recruitment and development of leadership at the teacher level
· understanding how to use observation, evaluation, and management of data driven results to guide instruction through ongoing, applied professional development implementation at the school level
· rewarding high quality educators for increases in student achievement

Process:
SDA implements the process of staff development and assistance as mandated by the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and State Legislature as well as through the use of federal and private funding sources. The overarching processes in the initiatives are to:
· Identify the needs of teachers to increase their knowledge management as they increase student achievement
· Facilitate the improvement process of teachers, schools, and districts through ongoing, applied, staff development
· Build leadership and expertise at the local level
