All classified vacant positions in the State of Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), including Special School District (SSD) are posted on LA Careers, the on-line application system.

To apply for any of the positions listed on LA Careers, you must establish a username and password to access the system and complete an online application. Interested individuals are encouraged to check LA Careers on a regular basis, as jobs are posted daily and are open only for a limited time period. Application instructions and contact information is included in each job posting. When making application, follow the instructions very carefully to ensure that your application is considered eligible to continue through the process.

Some jobs require a Civil Service score before applying, unless the job posting says that no score is needed for the job. An applicant who already has a score for a job must still apply to the agency job posting in order to be considered.

Unclassified positions in the Department of Education, including SSD and Board Special Schools (BSS) which are the Louisiana School for the Deaf, Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired and Louisiana Special Education Center, are posted on this website. Unclassified positions are not governed by the Louisiana Department of Civil Service, but serve at the pleasure of the State Superintendent of Education. Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) guidelines govern unclassified positions in the Special School District.
