Scheduled Workshops
Workshop and training programs vary throughout the year. A number of the programs have annual conventions, workshops and conferences. Other programs offer meetings and workshops on a demand basis. Training information and resources will be listed below as schedules are confirmed. If you have questions or suggestions for training, please address those to the contact persons listed with each program.

Workshops include Counseling, Marketing and Business, Options, Alternative Schools, Articulation, Technology and Health Occupations, VTIE, Agricultural Education, and Family & Consumer Sciences.

Event is open only to Career and Technical Education and Pre-GED/Skills Options educators (i.e. teachers, counselors, supervisors and administrators). All participants must pre-register with supervisor’s signature.

Jobs for America’s Graduates – Louisiana Quarterly Meetings with JAG-LA Job
JAG LA Quarterly Meetings with Job Specialists will be designed to provide training and technical assistance to upgrade local programs to ensure proper implementation of the national JAG model.

GED Connection Online Management System workshop
This workshop is designed to instruct administrators and lead teachers on the processes, techniques, and procedures for instructing adult education students from a distance. Online management issues and processes will be addressed.
This workshop is for Adult Education Supervisors and Adult Education Teachers.

Health Literacy
The purpose of this workshop is to provide ESL coordinators, migrant teachers, and adult education teachers with useful lessons that can be used in the "Parent and Community Involvement” module of the Louisiana School Health Index. Lessons are designed for low-literate adults and adults for whom English is a second language.

LiteracyPro Data Entry Training
To provide assistance in the LiteracyPro data management system. The training will include updates in the management of the LiteracyPro data system.
This training is for data entry personnel participating in the Adult Education Family Literacy program.

National Reporting System (NRS)
This workshop will provide information for adult education administrators and teachers on NRS data assessment/educational gains; an overview of adult education processes and procedures on student intake and orientation and an increase of frequency of data matching.

Bringing Research to Practice: Study Circles
Educators will learn about research-based practices for adult learners. This project will involve participants in an interactive process of learning about and applying current research on reading as it applies in adult basic education. This eight-month project will include participation in three, three-hour study circle sessions discussing reading research and implications for students’ programs and classes. The study circles project will be located throughout the eight regional service center areas.
This workshop is for educators working with adult learners.

Adult Education Supervisor’s Conference
To update the supervisors on various initiatives being implemented statewide in the Adult Basic Education Programs. It will also allow supervisors to network and build upon the successes of other local programs.
This conference is open to all Adult Education Supervisors.
