Public Notice: Proposed Revisions

The Department of Education, Division of Educational Improvement and Assistance (DEIA) is proposing revisions to Bulletin 1706, Subpart A, to comply with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Part B. All interested persons wishing to review the document may do so by linking to the June edition of the Louisiana Register at http://doa.louisiana.gov/osr/reg/regs2008.htm.

 

IDEA Funds Approval

Then U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) has informed State Superintendent of Education, Paul Pastorek, of conditional approval of Louisiana’s application for Fiscal Year 2008-09 under Part B of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The approval is based on OSEP’s review of Louisiana’s application, including assurances to operate special education programs in Louisiana in compliance with IDEA. IDEA Part B Section 611 funds are $179,911,586 and Section 619 funds total $6,372,736. IDEA funds are used in Louisiana to provide special education and related services to students with disabilities from three through 21 years of age.
