Speech/Language Pathology Services

Speech/Language Pathology Services (SLPS) coordinates appraisal and program services in Louisisana's Public Schools. Speech/Language Pathologists (SLPs) assist the schools with speech and hearing screenings for all students suspected of having a disability. Speech and language impairment means a communication disorder such as stuttering (fluency), impaired articulation, voice disorder and/or language disorder. Students with identified speech and language impairments according to the Pupil Appraisal Handbook can receive speech therapy from a licensed speech language pathologist in the public schools.
