Twenty schools are in School Improvement 3. They must continue to offer school choice and rewrite their School Improvement Plans with the support of a District Assistance Team. They are eligible for a Distinguished Educator if their district enters into a partnership with the Louisiana Department of Education. If these schools are Title I schools, they must also offer Supplemental Educational Services, which is defined by the U.S. Department of Education as “tutoring or extra help provided to students in reading, language arts/English, and math from approved providers.” This extra help can be provided before or after school, on weekends, or in the summer.
