Charter Schools

The Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE) received charter school applications for state-wide virtual charter schools and regional charter schools during its most recent application cycle. The Department is making those applications available for public view by accessing the links below.

Three applicants are proposing to operate the Type 2 charter schools as statewide "cyber schools." As such, they would have the potential to enroll students from all parts of Louisiana. These are:

• Madison
• Louisiana Connections
• Kaplan

In addition, four applications were submitted to operate Type 2 charter schools with a regional enrollment base. As such, they would have the potential to enroll students from the parish where they are located, and from parishes surrounding the parish where they are located. These are:

• Helix-STEM (East Baton Rouge Parish)
• Helix-Digital Media (East Baton Rouge Parish)
• Military Academy (Orleans Parish)
• Voices of International Business (Orleans Parish)
• Le Lycee Francais (Orleans Parish)
• Algiers Primary Cooperative Charter (Orleans Parish)
