Regional Teaching, Learning, and Technology Centers

TLTC The first four Teaching, Learning, and Technology Centers (TLTCs) were established in December 1998. Since then, eight TLTCs have been established statewide. The TLTCs are funded through the Federal Enhancing Education Through Technology Grant and are designed to: (1) serve as extensions of the Division of Leadership and Technology, (2) provide technology training services to educators in the immediate and surrounding parishes, (3) and support the efforts of the Regional Service and Assistive Technology Centers in the area of the TLTC. Each TLTC provides technology training that includes INTECH, LEADTech, K-12 Online Database Resources, Intel Professional Development, and Proficiency Express.

Compressed Videoconference Sites

Compressed videoconferences allow for audio and video communications in a "real-time" atmosphere. Two or more sites are connected via T1 or ISDN phone lines, and everyone in the room can see and hear everything being said or done ("real-time"). Wall- or ceiling-mounted cameras, large screen monitors, and "touch-to-talk" microphones are used by students and teachers within a session. Videoconference sites are located throughout Louisiana and the nation.
