Never give up on life.
Twenty-eight percent of adults in Louisiana cannot read an elementary level book to a child. Some lack math, computer and job skills. Many are too embarrassed to come and get the free education we offer. Please help them get through our door.
Adult and Family Services administers the Adult Education program that provides instruction to adults who are sixteen years of age and older, not enrolled in the K-12 system, and have less than a high school education. The purposes of the program are to allow these individuals to continue their education to at least the level of completion of secondary school and to make available to them an opportunity to acquire basic literacy skills necessary to function in society and become more employable, productive, and responsible citizens.

The Adult and Family Services Section also administers the Jobs for America's' Graduates-Louisiana (JAG LA), which is an affiliate of Jobs for America's Graduates. JAG LA's mission is to deliver a unique set of services to at-risk and disadvantaged youth in high school, including 12 months of post-graduation, follow-up services, which will result in the graduate's pursuing a postsecondary education and/or entering the workforce in a quality job leading to a career.
